GE JBP26 Range Troubleshooting
- Your range will not work if the plug is not snugly in the outlet. Check for power outages, and reset any tripped circuit breakers. Also, replace blown fuses. Check the controls for both your oven and cooktop, and put them on the right settings. If your cooktop is not working properly, check the drip pans, and reposition them if they are not fitting correctly in the cooktop recess. Align pan lines with the cooktop receptacles. If your oven door is in the locked position, you cannot use it. Wait for it to cool, and then unlock it. Adjust your oven thermostat if the oven is too cold or too hot.
- Your clock/timer will not work if the plug is not completely in the outlet. Properly set the oven controls. Use your manual for instructions on how to do this. Check your fuses and circuit breaker. If you see a control signal after setting your cooking time, you forgot to press "Bake" on your oven display. Check your oven lightbulb if it will not come on. Tighten it if loose, and replace if burned out. A blank display indicates either that the clock is off or that you have a blown fuse. An "F" plus either a number or letter indicates an error. Remove the power supply from the oven for 30 seconds, and plug it back in. If the oven is in self-cleaning mode, push the latch all the way to the right. A "bad" or "line" error indicates a wiring problem. Contact an electrician.
- It is normal to hear popping or crackling sounds while your oven is cooking your food. Check your oven controls and rack position if your food won't cook correctly. Only use the proper cookware type and size for your food item. Adjust the oven thermostat if necessary. Preheat before broiling if you live in an area with low voltage.
- A new oven will have some odors and burning smells. Clean your oven if it smokes a lot. Check your controls if your oven will not self-clean. If your oven was extremely dirty, try running the self-clean cycle again. If your oven won't self-clean, check the latch position, and put the control knob in the "Clean" position. Let the oven cool if you just baked a food item.
