How to Install Three Trumpet 12-Volt Air Horns
- 1). Open the front hood of the vehicle and locate a place in the engine bay to secure all three horns next to one another. The ideal location is dry and away from the exhaust manifold heat.
- 2). Position the horns in their mounting position and mark the hole in the mounting bracket, on the vehicle, with a marker.
- 3). Drill a hole through the marked position with a bit that is slightly larger in diameter than the mounting bolt.
- 4). Hold the horn and bracket over the hole and insert the bolt through both the bracket and the metal body of the vehicle. Secure with a lock washer and nut, and tighten with a wrench. Repeat Steps 2 through 4 to secure each horn inside the engine compartment.
- 5). Strip 3/8 inch of insulation off the 14-gauge wire. Insert the three red wires from the horns into one side of the triple female connector, and the 14-gauge wire in the other end. Compress the connector with pliers to secure the wires.
- 6). Run the 14-gauge wire to the vehicle's factory horn, and cut and strip the wire. Cut the two wires going into the factory horn with wire cutters and strip both wires.
- 7). Connect the 14-gauge wire to the positive wire for the factory horn with a butt connector. These work by inserting each wire in either end and compressing with pliers.
- 8). Strip 3/8 inch of insulation off the 14-gauge wire. Insert the three black wires from the horns into one side of the triple female connector, and the 14-gauge wire in the other end. Compress the connector with pliers to secure the wires.
- 9). Run the 14-gauge wire to the vehicle factory horn and cut and strip the wire. Connect the 14-gauge wire with the negative wire for the factory horn with a butt connector.
