How do I Clean Calcified Heating Elements?
- 1). Remove the heating elements from the stove top and place them in a laundry or utility sink.
- 2). Fill the sink with a gallon of warm water.
- 3). Add a gallon of muriatic acid to the water in the sink.
- 4). Let the elements soak in the tub for 20 minutes, then scrub them with a stiff brush. Be sure to wear heavy rubber gloves to protect your hands from the acid.
- 5). Drain the sink and rinse the elements and the sink with warm water for two to three minutes.
- 6). Fill the sink halfway with water and add a couple of cups of TSP powder.
- 7). Let the elements soak in the TSP water for 20 minutes to neutralize any of the acid remaining on the elements.
- 8). Dry the elements and replace them on the stove top.
