How to Install Pipe Truck Bumpers
- 1). Remove your old truck bumpers by locating the mounting bolts on the four corners. With your socket wrench, loosen each bolt until it can be turned by hand. Then grasp the bumper with one hand to support it while you remove the four mounting bolts with your other hand.
- 2). Thread the hardware that comes with your pipe bumpers through the mounting holes. Apply Loc-tite if you desire. For smaller pipe bumpers, there may only be one mounting hole, so attach the pipe bumper to the upper mounting hole.
- 3). Line up the pipe bumper mounting holes with the bumper mounting holes and hand-tighten the bolts. Support the pipe bumper with your other hand to make this process a little easier. Tighten until you cannot tighten the bolts by hand anymore.
- 4). Continue to tighten the bolts using a socket wrench until the pipe bumper is snug against the truck frame. Make sure the bumper is sitting level.
- 5). Tighten the bolts with one final turn of the socket wrench until you can not tighten anymore without extreme effort. The bumpers should secure directly against the frame.
