Difference Between Setcoat & Texture Coat
- SetCoat is a base coat that Faux Effects International Inc. recommends for classic interior or exterior decorative finishing work involving other products from its Silver Line, including Aquacreme and AquaGlaze. The company also recommends SetCoat as a furniture refinishing aid, due to its ability to bond and seal. SetCoat is manufactured from a proprietary resin, and covers about 400-square-feet per gallon. It is sold in quart and gallon form, and comes in a variety of metallic and custom colors.
- SetCoat Clear is a primer seal coat and/or a clear finish coat for porous wall paint. This product can be used on interior and exterior surfaces that have been either previously or newly painted. SetCoat Clear does not change the shade of a background coat, but may produce a frosty appearance when applied over very dark colors. It covers about 400-square-feet per gallon, and is available in pints, quarts, half-gallons and gallons.
- Texture Coat is a base coat with a light texture, and the ability to bond and seal layered plaster finishes. It can be used in conjunction with a range of other products made by Faux Effects International Inc., or by itself as a textured finish. Faux Effects International Inc. recommends that individuals wishing to use Texture Coat take a Faux Effects Certified Workshop for best results. Like SetCoat, Texture Coat is sold in both quarts and gallons.
- The Silver Line has several other products that can be used as base coats in addition to SetCoat and Texture Coat, including PlasterTex and Venetian Gem Base Coat. PlasterTex is an ideal base or finish coat when you want a sandy plaster coat, or one with more texture. Venetian Gem Base Coat is used as a decorative plaster base or finish coat. It can be used to form light or heavily textured results.
