How to Install a Bow Peep Sight

27
    • 1). Insert the pointed end of the string separator between the intertwined string fibers just above the draw point.

    • 2). Twist the string separator 90 degrees left or right. Doing so will pull the string fibers apart. Place the notch in the opposite of the string separator around the bowstring to hold it in place.

    • 3). Hold the peep sight between the string fibers. With your other hand, slowly twist the string separator the opposite direction 90 degrees to bring the string fibers back together. Ensure that the string fibers run along the grooves cut on the peep sight.

    • 4). Draw back your bow and get into your standard draw position. For most experienced hunters, this position is second-nature and usually features specific finger or thumb knuckles resting behind the jawbone. What is important is that you can comfortably and automatically resume this position each time you draw.

    • 5). Look at your front sight, with the peep sight positioned in the foreground. If the hole in the peep sight rests above the front sight, you will need to slide it downward. If the hole in the peep sight rests below the front sight, you will need to slide it upward.

    • 6). Relax the bowstring. Slide the peep sight upward or downward on the string fibers according to the directions above.

    • 7). Repeat Steps 4 through 7 until the peep sight rim is centered on the front sight while drawing the bow in your standard position.

    • 8). Tie the peep sight into place with dental floss. Start a double overhand knot just above the peep sight in the center of your floss strand. Tie another overhand knot on the opposite side of the string, followed by another on the other side of the string, working your way upward as you go along.

    • 9). Repeat Step 8 with another strand of floss tied just below the peep sight. After you have finished tying the floss in place, burn away the leftover string with a lighter.
