- Click on "Start," then "Computer." Right click your C drive, then "Properties." Click the "Tools" tab, then "Check Now." Press the "Continue" button if it appears. Place check marks next to each option, then click "Start." Choose "Schedule Disk Check," click "OK," then reboot your computer. Try your Chkdsk now.
- Go to "Start" and then "Run" or "Search." Type "msconfig" to open the System Configuration Utility. Press the "Continue" button, then the Boot.ini tab. Place check marks next to Bootlog and OS boot information. Apply your new settings, restart your computer and run your Chkdsk.
- Go to "Start" and "Search." Type "ntbtlog" at your search prompt. Double click on the file that reads the same. Scroll through the list to find misloaded drivers. Look for a phrase such as "Cannot load" or other of the sort. Reload your drivers accordingly. Reboot, then try your Chkdsk again.
