Not long ago, I was traveling in my MotorCoach and I parked along the side of a Big Box Bookstore, three doors down was a used bookstore.
I needed a space big enough so that I would not be blocking the hectic middle class fiasco or end up with shopping cart therapy.
Luckily, I found the side free from traffic, abundant parking and a nice view of valley below.
Then the most interesting thing happened.
An employee from the Big Box Store book store came out and started dumping magazines in the dumpster, literally a whole bin full.
About an hour later the used book store owner, manager or employee came out and dumped books into the dumpster.
I was sitting there on the computer writing a few articles using the Big Box bookstore WiFi system from my MotorCoach.
After I completed, my curiosity got the best of me.
Why were they throwing away the written word by the truck loads? It turns out that the Book Store was throwing away popular magazines that were one-month old.
The used book store was making space and throwing away books, most all of them were old diet type books, old small business books [how to make million doing this, that or the other thing], and spiritual self-help books.
The largest category were self-help books of a spiritual enlightenment nature.
If these books are not selling even as used books one has to ask why? Well, the answer is that they are pretty much all the same, as they claim to have the secrets to spirituality, and will make you one with the universe.
Unfortunately, they do not work and leave their readers underwhelmed and with more answers than they had before they bought them.
