12
    • 1). Unplug the GE washer from the wall outlet. Push a putty knife between the top of the washer cabinet and the cabinet body to release the clips holding the front panel of the washer. Locate the clips about 6 inches in from the sides along the front. Push in on each clip and pull out and up on the front panel from the washer.

    • 2). Pull the bleach tube from the top-left corner of the GE washer cabinet top. Remove the two screws from beneath the top of the washer holding the top to both sides of the washer.

    • 3). Tilt the top of the washer up and away from the washer cabinet. Remove the two screws from holding the switch assembly to the top of the washer at the right of the washer's lid opening.

    • 4). Disconnect the wires from the original switch holding it to the wires from the washer. The wires are held together with a plug connector; simply pull the plug apart.

    • 5). Install the replacement lid switch and secure it to the top of the washer with the two screws provided with the replacement lid switch. Plug the wire connectors together to connect the switch to the washer.

    • 6). Lower the top on the GE washer and replace the two screws to hold the top to the sides of the washer. Push the bleach tube onto the beach dispenser at the top-left corner of the washer.

    • 7). Set the front panel into the bottom clips along the floor of the washer and push the panel into the front of the washer until the clips under the top catch the front panel. Plug the GE washer back into the wall outlet.
