How do I Care for Plastic Volvo Bumper Parts?

32
    • 1). Park the Volvo in a cool, shaded area. Rinse it off with water. Wash the exterior with a wash mitt and a bucket of water and car shampoo. Wash the bumper trim and all of the plastic trim on the car as well. Dry the bumpers and the trim with a lint-free rag.

    • 2). Use a toothbrush or small detailing brush to get in the crevices and depressions. Rinse any loosened dirt out with the hose or some water, and then wash and dry the area. Don't neglect the plastic parts that curve under the car, since these are often the dirtiest.

    • 3). Liberally spray a high quality-plastic dressing on the bumper and any plastic parts. Spread the dressing out so that the bumper has even coverage. Let the dressing soak in for about ten seconds, and then buff the surface with the lint-free rag. Turn the rag over or use a new rag to finish wiping the bumper.

    • 4). Apply the dressing to the car six to eight times a year to maintain the best possible appearance. Use a product like Forever Black to restore the finish of plastic bumper parts that have faded from exposure to the sun. This a dye that is applied to the plastic with a rag, but it still needs to be protected with dressing after it cures.
