How do I Make Flat Black Paint for Cars?
- 1). Pour the desired amount of black paint into a measuring cup. Pour the paint until it reaches a line or marking on the measuring cup so it will be easier to establish the proper paint-to-reducer ratio.
- 2). Add one part reducer to four parts paint; so if you use four ounces of black paint, add one ounce of reducer. If you use eight ounces of black paint, add two ounces of reducer.
- 3). Stir the paint and reducer until it is well mixed. Add the flattening agent/additive to the paint and reducer and mix it again. There is no set ratio or amount of flattening agent for creating flat paint. The more flattening agent added, the less shiny and more flat the paint will be when dried. Add an ounce or several ounces, depending on how low-gloss you want the car to be.
