How to Decorate a Table With Repurposed Items
- 1). Use empty wine bottles as eye-catching candle holders. Clean out a wine bottle featuring an interesting label, and allow it to air-dry. Insert a taper candle into the bottle's opening; the wax will drip down the bottle as it melts. Place one bottle in the center of a table, or line several up down the length of it.
- 2). Turn a vintage sugar bowl into a charming vase. Create a bouquet of small flowers, such as sweetheart roses, and cut their stems short. Fill the bowl with water, and insert the bouquet. Display the flowers on a table as a sweet-smelling touch.
- 3). Recycle an antique wire bird cage into a creative table centerpiece. Fill the cage with a stack of vintage books, small vases of flowers or candles. Place the cage in the middle of a table as a focal point.
- 4). Protect table surfaces with homemade coasters and place mats made out of recycled materials. Cut a terrycloth dishtowel into squares to create coasters. Place a piece of cotton batting inside two towel squares, and sew the layers together to design each coaster. Arrange old greeting cards, vintage maps or magazine clippings on a piece of card stock, and seal with clear contact paper to make place mats.
