How to Install Ink Cartridges on an HP 1400 PSC
- 1). Power on the HP PSC 1400 printer. Make sure the paper tray is down and there is paper loaded in the tray.
- 2). Lower the cartridge access door until it can't be lowered any farther. The cartridge carriage should move to the center of the printer once the door is raised.
- 3). Use your finger to press directly down on the cartridge that you want to replace to release it. The tri-color cartridge is on the left and the black cartridge is on the right. Pull the cartridge out.
- 4). Undo any packaging from the new cartridge, and remove the tape from the bottom of the cartridge. Try not to touch the copper-colored contacts or ink nozzles on the bottom of the cartridge.
- 5). Push the new cartridge into the carriage. Push it in at a slight upward angle until it snaps into place.
- 6). Close the cartridge access door. If this is the first time you have installed your ink cartridges, the printer will print an alignment page. After the page has printed, place the page down flat on the scanner bed. Close the scanner lid and press the "Scan" button to align the cartridges.
