Creativity should come first when thinking about decorating your nursery or kid's rooms; you may want to consider other things as well as color palate and framing.
Kids develop very quickly in many areas, there are studies that indicate that they are born with an inherent creativity and as they get older that creativity gets stifled or "pushed back" to the back of the more "dominate" or influenced brain functions.
Think about pictures, games, interactive decorations that have unfinished stories in there very design.
Let the object encourage the child to create a story to go along with the picture or object.
If the story is finished for them will the child learn to exercise their own creativity? As an example, have you noticed that the very old cartoons left some of the story up to our imagination to finish; what happened to that rabbit when he went underground? How upset do you get when the director of a movie leaves the ending with you wondering what happened to the character? We seem to live in a society that does not leave much to our imagination.
How about an arrow that points to, nothing.
A bird chasing a? Give your child an illustration for their room of a classic character that has an unfinished story.
Look for that decorating idea that is not finished.
Look for a picture that you can imagine what is going to happen next.
What are the rest of the family and friends of that character doing, what might they be like? Then, imagine how many story's your child will create around that picture as it grows up, and you now have an heirloom piece of art that both of you can enjoy.
