It"s OK For Our Kids to Share - Really!

16
My wife Kristi and I have been students of Personal Development for quite a while, even before we met each other.
With the amazing results we've had by changing the way we think, it's only natural that we'd want our kids to be exposed to similar thoughts.
It's only natural that they would be of course.
There's a lot to be said for the Nature Vs Nurture theory and the Nurture side of it is all about environment, the majority of which comes from the parents: namely Kristi and Kieron (us).
Our kids are a reflection of us; our attitudes and behaviour.
At the time of writing Emily is 5 and Clair is 2; being such an age the concept of abundance is not apparent.
There's the issue of sharing and both girls seem to think they have to hoard what they have and to get more than the other.
Of course we know better, they are only kids, but we do make an effort to show them all the things in the world that are great examples of abundance.
The trees, the grass, the clouds, grains of sand on the beach - so much that is in infinite supply.
Obviously there is more abundance out there but these are some examples that we think the girls can relate to.
Even if Emily our eldest can 'get' that concept before Clair does, she can then teach it to her little sister.
What a great tool to help them in building confidence in the real world! It has been so rewarding for us to see some evidence of all this coming through in their behavior too.
Clair (the 2yo) seems to have a more innate sense of when it's OK to share.
Sometimes she does it herself, sometimes when prompted she will happily hand over some of what she's got.
Sometimes though, Clair won't share with anyone and the dreaded word MINE rears it's ugly head.
Well, we can't be perfect all the time right? Emily (the 5yo) is getting better too but then we have to consider that there was a time when she didn't have a sister to share with so the last 2 years have been different for her.
She's a smart girl and is loving having a sister so is learning well.
I believe this all starts with a loving environment at home, which is what Kristi and I seem to promote effortlessly (and I'm very grateful for that).
We are constant examples to our girls of how life can be lived the right way.
This start of knowledge will surely help Emily and Clair to filter and rationalize their decisions when they become adults.
We've been Australian entrepreneurs now for many years and as such we've been able to show our girls a different lifestyle where anything is possible if you really want it.
As parents I believe we have a responsibility to show our kids that there's more than enough to go around; you can share your things, even give them away, then watch in wonder as the universe brings all that and more back to you.
We've seen that in our own lives - how much more magical would our kids lives be if they chose to live like that? It's not a dream, we're watching it become a reality.
