The fireplace is said to be the cornerstone of the home, the centerpiece of the room that it is in, and the focal point of conversation. With something this big being so important you have to make sure that you understand how to decorate around it and how to decorate the mantel. Fireplace design can be easy as long as you know what you are doing. The trick is to seriously sit down and think about what you like and what you can handle.

The modern day fireplace is usually made out of stone or faux stone materials and sports a wooden mantel. It is this type of design that makes it very flexible.
