Rheumatic Manifestations of Endocrine Diseases
In a small group of children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) (66) compared to controls (89) the occurrence of antithyroid antibodies (antithyroglobulin and antithyroid peroxidase) as well as thyroid function was assessed. The authors concluded that children with JIA have a higher incidence of antithyroid antibodies and subclinical hypothyroidism than normal children. The children positive for antibodies all had oligoarticular JIA.
