Reducing Your Hot Tub Bills and Helping the Environment

25
Hot tubs have many benefits.  They can help to relieve stress after a hard day, they can help alleviate aching muscles and joints and they are a great way to socialise with friends and family. However, many new hot tub users are shocked by the size of their electricity bill upon installing a spa hot tub. The first bill in particular can be a particularly bad shock as the water has to be heated for a long time up to the desired level.  Subsequent electricity bills can still be shocking.

In addition to large electricity bills, high energy use from hot tubs also affects the environment with more energy consumption having a greater impact on environmental pollution.  The good news is that there are steps you can take with your hot tub to both reduce your energy bills and to help protect the environment.  You should contact a professional dealer who can best advise you about this more.

Making Your Hot Tub More Energy Efficient

By minimising the heat loss on your hot tub, you can help to save your energy bills and the environment. The easiest way to do this is:

1)   Insulate your spa hot tub

Ensure that your hot tub is well insulated using foam between the shell and the outer fixture.  It is also possible to insulate the bottom and sides of hot tubs using bubble insulation.

When looking at hot tubs for sale speak with the dealers about how the hot tubs are insulated and get several opinions about this.

2)   Invest in a good hot tub cover

Most of the heat from a hot tub is lost to the open air through evaporation.  It is inefficient to have to re-heat the water in hot tubs to the same level every time you want to use it.   You can reduce heat loss in this way by investing in a decent spa hot tub cover.  One that is customised to your particular model of hot tub can be particularly effective.  What you spend on a good hot tub cover can be re-couped in the amount you save with your energy bills.

3)   Consider the number of pumps in your hot tub

Each hot tub pump uses between 1.5 and 11 amps of power.  If you have 5 pumps in your spa hot tub, you could be using as much as 55 amps when running.  Speak to a professional dealer about the number of pumps you require for your hot tub and weight this up in relation to your energy bills.

There are several ways that you can save your energy bills whilst operating your hot tub and at the same time can help reduce energy pollution to the environment.  Contact an expert dealer who can offer you more advice and help with this.
