Kitchen Aid Range Repair
- 1). Check the fuses in the house to ensure the fuse controlling the oven is still working. The spark for gas ovens is also controlled by electricity.
- 2). Remove the grill from over the burner.
- 3). Lift up the hood of the oven. If you have sealed burner units skip this step.
- 4). Poke a needle into the pilot light hole to remove any dirt.
- 5). Brush away soot from the pilot orifice with a toothbrush.
- 6). Press the ignitor and look for a spark. Brush the end of the ignitor with a toothbrush to clean it.
- 7). Remove the screw holding the burner assembly in place. Lift up the burner and insert a brush inside to clean it out. Insert pins into the flash ports to clean out debris.
- 8). Insert a pin into the burner valve port.
- 9). Loosen the screws on the ignition switch and pull out the wires if the ignitor is not working. Insert the wires into a new switch and test the unit.
- 1). Inspect the electric range for signs of scorching or pits in the range itself.
- 2). Unplug the oven from the wall.
- 3). Pull up and to the side on the burner to unplug it from the socket. Replace the burner if it looks burnt.
- 4). Bend the terminals outward if the burner sits loose in the unit. Insert the terminals in the socket and test again.
- 5). Remove the screw holding the socket in place if the burner still doesn't work. Loosen the screws holding the range wires and insert them into the new switch.
