How to Make Peeling Boiled Eggs Easy
- 1). Boil eggs that you have had stored in the refrigerator for at least five days. Eggs that are fresher than five days will not peel easily. Make certain that none of the eggs has cracks.
- 2). Leave the eggs out of the refrigerator until they are at room temperature. Use the right size pot for the number of eggs you wish to boil, and place it on the stove burner. Place the eggs you wish to boil in the bottom of the pot. Cover the eggs with tap water that is 2 inches above the level of the eggs, which will allow room for the eggs to move as the water boils. Set the stove burner to "Medium-High." After the water achieves a rolling boil, remove the pot from the stove burner, cover it tightly with a lid and allow it to sit for 20 minutes.
- 3). Use a large perforated spoon to gently remove the eggs from the hot water and place them into a bowl of very cold water for 10 to 15 minutes. The steam that develops between the egg and the shell makes peeling the eggs easier. Peel the eggs immediately after removing them from the cold water. The quick cooling will eliminate the green color that sometimes shows on the outside of the yolk.
