DIY: Dry Weed & Feed
- 1). Determine the approximate square footage of the lawn and purchase enough weed and feed to sufficiently cover the lawn. Multiply the length in feet times width in feet to get an approximate square footage.
- 2). Choose a time to apply the dry weed and feed when weeds have started to actively grow. Select an application time when the grass is wet. Use a garden hose to lightly wet the grass if necessary.
- 3). Position a spreader in a corner of the yard or along a border such as a drive or walk.
- 4). Pour dry granule weed and feed into the spreader. Adjust the spreader control based on the manufacturer's recommendations.
- 5). Push the spreader by walking at a slow to medium speed. Maintain a steady pace while walking. Work the spreader across the yard in back and forth pattern to achieve good coverage.
