Illustrator DVD Cover Project Ideas
- Create an alternate DVD cover for a classic (or cult classic) film, such as "Casablanca," "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" or "The Shawshank Redemption." Design the cover in a style diametrically opposed to the style used on the actual movie posters. For example, if the cover of the DVD version of the movie you choose boasts a gritty black-and-white photo-realistic, use Adobe Illustrator's calligraphic brushes and other tools to create a graceful art nouveau cover.

Imagine a film based on a favorite book of yours and create a DVD cover for it. The book could be a childhood bedtime story, a fast-paced thriller or a dramatic memoir. Whatever book you choose, the cover should convey the mood and general subject of the film. DVD covers for movies always include the movie title, tagline, starring actors' names and a rave quote or two, so you'll get a chance to use Adobe Illustrator's advanced typography features. - Promote your personal workout routine.Hemera Technologies/AbleStock.com/Getty Images
Design a DVD cover for a fitness video -- either an existing fitness program or one you invented. This is a particularly appropriate if you are a fitness enthusiast. Whatever type of workout you choose to feature -- yoga, Pilates, salsa dancing or weight training, to name just a few -- include a person demonstrating one of the workout moves to show you know how to use Adobe Illustrator's vector drawing tools. - Wildlife documentaries provide ample image opportunities for a DVD cover.Tom Brakefield/Stockbyte/Getty Images
Bring history to life by designing a DVD cover for an imaginary historical documentary. For example, if you are a mountaineering buff, design a cover for a documentary about the first ascent of the treacherous north face of the Eiger. The graphic could show the silhouettes of four men in the foreground, looking at the massive, murderous mountain rising before them. This cover design would make ample use of Adobe Illustrator's perspective drawing tools.
