How to Slipstream a Windows XP Bootable CD
- 1). Download the Windows XP Service Pack Network Installation Package from Microsoft.com/downloads. Rename the file "xpsp.exe" and save it to "C:\XPSP."
- 2). Create a folder called "C:\XPCD," then copy the entire contents of the Windows XP installation CD to the folder.
- 3). Click "Start," "Run," then enter "C:\XPSP\xpsp.exe /integrate:C:\XPCD" into the dialog box and click "OK."
- 4). Follow the prompts in the Service Pack installation wizard and click "OK" when the process completes.
- 5). Launch ISOBuster, select the drive containing the Windows XP installation CD from the drop down list at the top, then expand the CD objects in the left pane and click on "Bootable Disk."
- 6). Right-click the file with the "IMG" file extension in the right pane and select the "Extract" option at the very top of the drop down list. Save the file to the "C:\XPSP" folder.
- 7). Remove the Windows XP installation CD from the drive and insert the blank writable CD into the CD burner.
- 8). Open ImgBurn and click the "Write Files/Folders to Disk" icon. Select the drive letter representing the CD burner with the blank disk from the "Destination" drop down box.
- 9). Add the "C:\XPCD" folder to the source list on the left side by clicking the down arrow button, browsing to the folder and clicking the plus sign button.
