Mobile Home Furnaces--Select The Right One

51
Furnaces for use in mobile or manufactured homes are considerably different from standard home furnaces. It is necessary to choose and purchase the right heating system, which is suitable for use in your mobile home. You must get a system which is specifically designed for use in a mobile home. Air ducts are small and corners are tight. The result is that air does not flow quite as freely or easily as it does in a standard home.

Furnaces designed for use in mobile homes are turned out by some of the same manufacturers who make standard furnaces. When you have come to decision to get a new furnace you must note that these machines use a much different ratings system, than those used for a standard home. These furnaces are quite different and have different installation methods. They also have considerably different venting and ducting systems than those of ordinary homes.

The ducting system, as a result of the small space, is of small dimensions compared to that used in an ordinary house. Furnaces which were designed and made for standard homes cannot be used to heat mobile homes. Installation of such a furnace results in dangerous conditions. A sealed combustion vent system is specifically designed for use in  mobile and manufactured homes. This  is completely different from the system used in ordinary furnaces.

The heat vents absolutely must be installed around the exterior walls. In an area of cold winter climate this is even more essential. Cold air is sucked in from  outdoors by the sealed combustion unit, and due to the seal, no fumes are released into the home. Vents which may be in the outside walls, ceiling or floor are used to suck air into the furnace. These air intake and exhaust vents are very well sealed so as to completely  prevent the escape of air.

The furnace chosen must be correctly sized for the mobile home in which it is to be installed. The exact size will very much depend on climatic conditions in your area. A heating system which could be exactly right in a warm climate would of course be too small for use in in a colder climate. An undersized furnace must continue running non stop to heat the home. The result of this is inefficiency and considerable waste of money. It is very necessary to select a furnace which is properly rated for the size of your mobile home, and the climatic conditions. The best way to be sure that this takes place is to obtain some advice from a local heating expert who is experienced in the area.
