How to Re-Spool Weed Eaters
- 1). Disconnect the weed eater from the extension cord. Position the trimmer on a flat and level surface.
- 2). Pull the trimmer line cartridge from the trimmer head. Grasp the tap button on the bottom of the cartridge and pull straight out and away from the trimmer head.
- 3). Remove old line from the cartridge and dispose of properly. Wipe the line cartridge and inside of the trimmer head with a damp rag to remove grass, dirt and debris.
- 4). Cut a 30-foot length of .065-inch diameter trimmer line from a filler spool with a pair of sharp scissors.
- 5). Insert one end of the 30-foot trimmer line into the hole in the side of the line cartridge.
- 6). Wind the line smoothly and evenly around the cartridge in the direction indicated by the arrow on the cartridge. Leave 6 inches to 8 inches of the line free. Anchor the line in the tab on the side of the cartridge.
- 7). Turn the cartridge toward the trimmer head and insert the free end of the trimmer line extending from the cartridge through the small tube on the side of the trimmer head.
- 8). Push the cartridge onto the trimmer head until it snaps into place. Pull the trimmer line to disengage it from the tab to prepare the trimmer for use.
