Living in a Smaller than Singles Washington DC Town
It is the first night of the year, and I am wishing that I lived in Singles Washington DC. I had a date (let us refer to him as Charlie), but he cancelled last minute. He said he got a call that his son was in the hospital, so, of course, he had to go there. I know he can not control things like that and that the best thing he could do was to go to the hospital to be by his son's side, but this still sucks. Perhaps I am being a tad self-centered? Hardly. Yes, it would be a lot harder to take if Charlie had skipped out on our date for another girl or to be with his buddies. Hell, I should be glad he even gave me a reason. Some guys will just leave a girl hanging with a no call/no show question mark on their face.
For example, the guy I was making New Year's Eve plans with since last Monday-- Thursday came, and he would not respond to my messages confirming that we were going to hang out. Since I figured he made other plans or changed his mind about me, I decided I was better off trying to make plans with Charlie. All day Friday, Charlie and I were tentatively making plans around what to do after I got off work and got "ready" to go out. Much like tonight, the time came when I was "ready" and waiting for him to pick me up then I got a text message saying that he could not come. He claimed that his friend must have taken money from his wallet that morning, so he did not have enough cash to do what we planned. I spent the next hour searching for singles online, yet I had no luck fulfilling that hole which Charlie left in my heart just then.
Anyways, the confusion lies with the fact that Charlie's son has been "sick" and in and out of the hospital for the past three or four nights (minus the night that his son was fine but his wallet was empty). I am also a little confused at how he did not have enough cash for a cheap hotel room last night, but he woke up with enough to make plans to take me to a nice steakhouse? I tried finding a new date, but I did not have much luck. I guess that is what happens when you live in a town that is made up of less people than everyone in the Singles Washington DC population put together.
