How to Install a Chevrolet 5.0 Distributor
- 1). Open the hood and disconnect the battery's negative-terminal with a socket wrench.
- 2). Remove the spark-plug from the bottom right corner of the engine. Use a socket wrench to rotate the engine until the pistons reach their top most position.
- 3). Place the spark-plug back into the engine and line up the white line on the distributor with the pre-drilled indentation hole on the lower part of the engine housing. Place it into the engine.
- 4). Attach the front right spark-plug wire to the front most plug-tower. The first, third, fifth, and seventh spark-plug wires are all on the right side with the first one being at the front and the seventh one at the rear of the engine. The second, fourth, sixth, and eighth spark-plug wires all on the left side with the second being at the front of the engine and the eighth at the rear. The first plug-tower is at the front of the distributor with the rest going in ascending order in a counterclockwise direction. The second plug-tower is to the right of the first, and the eighth plug-tower to the left of the first. Attach each spark-plug wire to its respective plug-tower.
- 5). Reconnect the battery and close the hood.
