How to Rent a Stable
- 1). Visit each stable you are considering and ask to speak to some of their stable help. This should give you a good feel for how they take care of the animals, and what values the stable owners have. The stable should be clean and well-kept and the animals should appear healthy and content. If you see a lot of sick animals or debris, move on to another location.
- 2). Pay attention to the living conditions. A good stable should have room indoors that's shaded and clean, as well as a large area for the horses to run and exercise in. They may also have training facilities such an exercise ring or race track. The stalls should have rubber mats or dirt floors, as opposed to wood or concrete, which could cause foot and leg problems down the road.
- 3). Check with the staff about the veterinarian on call. You need to make sure that your horse will be well taken care of in case of injury or illness.
