Track Lighting Architectural Specifications
- Track lighting consists of a single track with several lights attached to the frame. There are two ways to power track lighting. A floating canopy has a mounting device at the center of the track which connects to a regular junction box in the ceiling. A live end connector has a power cord at one end of the track which is plugged into a standard electrical outlet.
- There are three standard types of tracks. The wiring and connectors differ slightly according to track type. LT tracks have two wires and a dual connector on the track head. JT is basically a slightly different version of an LT track, having the same two-wire, dual-connector system incorporated into a lower, wider profile. HT tracks have three wires and a single connector on the track head.
- The track itself may be straight or curved. This serves to enhance aesthetic value more than functionality. Lights may be hanging pendants, can lights or LEDs. Individual lights are adjustable, making track lighting perfect for accent or task lighting. Track lighting comes in a wide variety of styles and finishes.
