Bunk Beds Making a Comeback!
Bunk beds are being sold that look like tree houses, doll houses and even castles, and often have a slide attached to make springing out of bed in the morning a little more fun. Kind of goes against the "no jungle gym" rule, but I guarantee you won't hear any complaints from your kids about it. These beds are great for compact or studio apartments where you need all the space you can get. Loft apartments are growing in popularity, converting large buildings in highly populated cities into individual living spaces. Bunk beds are not suitable for children under the age of nine. The greatest risk of injury in a bunk bed occurs until this age.
Bunk BEds are normally supported by four poles or pillars, one at each corner of the bed. To get to the second bunk a ladder is used, though taller children often find other faster, more creative methods of climbing into them. They are also available as space savers when there is only one child, with a bed on top and room below for a desk and drawers. These beds are safer now than they have ever been. Most are designed to hold up to all the jumping, kicking, pushing and pulling the kids have to offer.
Kids loft beds can be used with smaller children but should be lowered closer to the ground accordingly. College loft beds are generally the tall models listed above. Kids can be tough on furniture, and bunk beds are a popular target of children's innocent (and not so innocent) abuses. The metal structure is apt to bend with regular use, even for the most well-behaved, responsible child. Kids beds are a lot of fun for children, and they are a great idea for small bedrooms where space is limited. These beds are available in all sorts of styles and sizes.
