How to Transplant Applications from an Old XP Operating System to a New One
- 1). Locate the original CD or DVDs on which the applications came. If you downloaded the applications or lost the discs, you can most likely download an installer from the application's website. Save the installers to your desktop.
- 2). Locate the activation keys or serial numbers. If you paid for an application, then most likely you had to enter an activation code to unlock it during the installation process. These codes are often located on the product packaging or emailed to you. If you have lost your serial number, contact the manufacturer.
- 3). Insert the CD or DVDs or double-click the downloaded files to launch the installation utility.
- 4). Follow the on-screen instructions to process through the installation. Enter the activation codes as prompted. Restart the computer after the install completes, if you are instructed to do so.
- 5). Repeat for additional programs.
