What is a Springform Pan?
A springform pan is a type of baking pan made with a removable bottom and sides.
The springform pan is most commonly used for cakes which cannot be easily removed from a pan. Cheesecakes, tortes, and some cakes are baked in springform pans.
Though the most common size is the 9-inch round with 10 cup capacity, the pans can also be found in a variety of shapes and sizes, including mini pans, and squares and rectangles.
Springform pans are made to be waterproof with their tight seal, but when baking cheesecakes or other thin batter cakes, wrap the bottom of the pan with foil to ensure there is no seepage.
