11
Angelfish are very popular among tropical fish. In order to be qualified as an experienced fish breeder, you should be familiar with the breeding method used with angelfish. In fact, they are very easy to breed and you don't need to provide much care for this species.

Angels are divided into various types based on their faces and colors. There are many colors available like leopards, blushers, and silvers. The diversity in color will give your tank a look as if there are many species while in fact you only breed angelfish.

You should houses six juveniles at most in a 33-gallon tank. You should leave the bottom undecorated. The pH is fixed at 7 and the temperature is about 80f. The foods you may use are beef heart mixture, flakes and blood-worms.

When the angels become six to eight months old, they may begin looking for a mate. Once an angel has found its mate, it may become arrogant and start defending its territory. When you are sure that you have a pair, separate them from the rest by moving them to another tank. The new tank should be no more than 20 gallon. A spawning site should be prepared in advance as well.

You should make sure the temperature is set at 82 degrees. This is the ideal degree for fish breeding. The belly of one of your angels should become swollen in the next five to eight days. This is the signal of a female. The papilla will appear on both fish but the papilla of the female is much larger than that of the male. You should see your female start laying eggs in the next few days. From now on, don't disturb the tank.

Prepare a notebook and take note which one lays eggs and which one fertilizes. Once the eggs turn white, you can be sure that the spawning process has been successful. If it has not, you should try again until you succeed.

You should leave the parents to look after the eggs. The eggs may take two to three days to hatch depending on the temperature. Before they can freely swim all over the tank it takes about three to five days for them to wiggle. Once they can swim freely, you can start feeding them. Micro worms are the best kind of food for newly hatched angels.

The parents can stay with their fry for the first few days. After that, remove them and begin the process again. Angelfish may be quite demanding therefore you should be patient and try different breeding methods. Being one of the most tropical fish, angelfish will surely add something to your tank.
