Growing Up
When I was just a year old, I could see everyone around walking places, I could see my brother jumping up- down the stairs, I could see his friends running around the house.
Oh, how much I wished I could walk! When I was two years old, I could see people around me singing, I could see my mom shouting at us, I could see my brother talking to me.
Oh, how much I wished I could talk! When I was three years old, I could see children going to school, I could see them studying & playing there, I could see my brother looking good in uniform.
Oh, how much I wished I could go to a school! When I was five years old, I could see my brother going to a far-off school, I could see my father going to his office, I could see people walking all by themselves on roads.
Oh, how much I wished I could be on my own! When I was twelve years old, I could see people going to colleges, I could see them enjoying their life there, I could see my brother preparing for entrance.
Oh, how much I wished I could join a college! When I was eighteen years old, I could see my brother graduating, I could see the his joy of completing studies, I could see the pleasure of first salary on his face.
Oh, how much I wished I could also work! When I was twenty-one years old, I could see couples holding hands, I could see my cousins tying the knot, I could see elders shower blessing on their union.
Oh, how much I wished I could be in love! Now, when I am twenty-four years old, I myself work for a software firm, I don't know if there is a place other than my cubicle.
I don't remember when I met my loved ones last time.
Oh, how much I wish I could get those childhood days back!
