Windows Mobile 2003 is a Windows operating system for certain smartphones and mobile devices. This operating system was engineered to have the same look and feel of the desktop version of Windows, except on a reduced scale. Windows Mobile 2003 software applications provide users with tools to do tasks like back up their systems or create mobile applications. - The SDK (software development kit) for the Windows Mobile 2003-based Pocket PC software program allows developers and programmers to create Pocket PC 2003 applications. These applications are made using eMbedded Visual C++ 4.0, but it must have Windows Service Pack 3 installed. Users can also create applications in Visual Basic .NET with Visual Studio .NET 2003 or C#. This program is compatible with Windows XP and 2000 with Service Pack 3. Users must install Microsoft's ActiveSync 3.7.1 application before they can use this program. Users can download this program from Microsoft's website. Once installed, the file name for this program will be Microsoft Pocket PC 2003 SDK.msi.
- This tool is compatible with Windows Mobile 2003, Windows Mobile 6.x (Professional or Classic) and Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC. SPB Backup allows users to back up all of their data, and this data is saved within compressed files. Compressed files reduce the size of the original files so they take up less space. These files are saved in self-extracting files, which means the program will save everything needed to restore these files. Users can select to run full or specialized backups, and can then set these backups to run at certain, scheduled times. Users can then back up these files to their computer or storage card. While there is a free trial download of this program, users will need to purchase the full version.
- To access SSL-encrypted (secure sockets layer) applications, Windows Mobile needs the correct root certificates. Root certificates are pockets of information that identify a person or a computer, and many applications will require users to have these to access certain areas of a program. Windows Mobile will require root certificates to access the following applications: Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol, Microsoft ActiveSync and Microsoft Pocket Internet Explorer for Secure Sockets Layer. Many third-party applications also require root certificates. The SPAddCert.exe tool will add root certificates to either individual computers or multiple workstations. This tool is compatible with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, Windows Mobile 2003, Mobile Information Server 2002 and Smartphone 2002. Users can download this tool from the Microsoft website.
