Is Meditation Beneficial Fact Or Fiction

26
They say when you pray you talk to God, when you meditate...
you Listen.
Whether you Meditate for stress reduction, health benefits, spiritual enlightenment or just to relax and become one with all of mankind there are undisputable benefits to meditation.
Some of the benefits that you will find with a daily practice of meditation are: ·         More happiness, Joy and Flow in your life ·         Heightened creativity, problem solving skills and Cognitive ability ·         Dramatic reduction of anxiety and stress ·         Improved sense of mental, emotional and physical well-being ·         Incredible increase in Self confidence and Motivation ·         Accelerated healing of unresolved mental and emotional blocks ·         Better, more restful sleep ·         An Increase in the production of neurochemicals that are proven to slow aging and keep the body young ·         Accelerated healing of unresolved mental and emotional blocks These benefits are only a small few that can be achieved through a daily practice of meditating.
It seems that of those individuals that do practice meditation, they have a much heightened awareness, of all things.
Intuition becomes more acute, health improves, stress is no longer an issue and they can better handle any stressful situation presented to them, logically clearly and concisely.
Of all things that meditation does the most Important is It Brings us to a state of "awareness".
Most of us spend the majority of our lives on "autopilot".
Going through lives as though we are only a participant in our lives, and not a Contributor and we exhibit little if no control over our life path.
This is what generally causes the stress, illness, anger, resentments, and many other emotions under the rainbow.
Somehow, along the path, we "forget" that we are in control of our lives, our health, and our reactions to all matter of occurrences that happen within our lives.
What meditation does, is creates a sense of awareness.
The right and left hemispheres of our brains begin to communicate, possibly for the first time in your life and you become aware of things around you, your body and your responsibility in this world.
You become acutely aware that you are responsible for the state your life is in, and that you have the power to change it.
Meditation brings you a state of awareness, that Perhaps suffering is only a manifestation of one's refusal to accept responsibility for the state of their life.
It is much easier to find and point out the faults in others than it is in you.
The realisation that the very things you find vile and distasteful in others are those which you hate in your very being.
Perhaps those very things have been suppressed in you, never given a voice, dubbed as bad, evil, to be seen and not heard.
It occurs to you; perhaps this is why these things torment you so, when it seems to slide off others, like water off a ducks back.
You realise that these vile, distasteful things if never given a voice will continue to force their way to the surface or to lead you down a path that feels all too familiar.
The realisation that the game of Black and White is arbitrary, there will be no winner.
Without black there can be no white, without up, there can be no down, without good there can be no bad.
What there is however is a choice, pure unencumbered freedom, really, of how to react to circumstances.
A total awareness that our thoughts, feelings and beliefs do radically construct our lives, thorough our conscious or unconscious awareness, the choice becomes our own.
It occurs to me, if I am always late, perhaps I should leave EARLIER..
..
If I show compassion, but once, perhaps it will be paid forward...
If I see MYSELF in each and every individual I encounter whether it be on the road in my travels, in a store, in a petulant, ill-tempered client, a change, be it small, may occur.
If the choice becomes mine, it then becomes so very clear suffering is just an illusion, one created by the unawareness of that which created it in the first place.
Is meditation beneficial? Unequivocally yes.
Its benefits are far reaching.
A connectivity to all that is, an understanding of your place in the world and your purpose in it.
If meditation created awareness alone, awareness its only benefit, perhaps not only would the individual benefit but the entire world.
