Choosing A Groomer For Yorkie Puppies

Choosing the Best Groomer For Your Puppy

When deciding on which groomer is best for your puppy, do your research and ask around for recommendations. If you do your research you can eliminate certain groomers and put others at the top of your list. Use the internet to start your search for the perfect candidate then meet up with your choices and decide from there who is the best one for your Yorkie puppy.

Decisions, Decisions

When making your potential groomer list, be sure to give them a call and ask certain questions you would be interested in knowing. If you"re wondering if they are qualified, ask them what training and experience they"ve had grooming other dogs and puppies, and see if they"ve worked with Yorkie puppies before. Ask them if they have proper certification and if they are certified in tick and flea applications. Also, it"s important to be patient and not to get frustrated at first when searching for a proper groomer. Take the time necessary to ask the questions and find the answers you are looking for because you would want the same done for you. A puppy is just like a human when it comes to feeling good and looking nice, they just can"t tell you verbally.

Meeting With the Groomer For the First Time

When meeting with the groomer, see how your Yorkie puppy reacts to being held and handled by someone else. It"s not the most important thing for your puppy to like the groomer but it"s definitely an added bonus. If your puppy likes their groomer it will make their job a lot easier and will keep the puppy calm and still while being groomed. It will also help to trust that the groomer will stay calm and give your puppy the best experience as possible, especially if it"s their first time. If your puppy doesn"t like to be left alone or you want to make sure they are doing what you want them to do, ask if you can stand near them so you can keep them calm while they are being groomed. If your puppy is happy then it will make things a lot smoother for you, the groomer, and the whole experience. So stay patient and enjoy taking your puppy for their first grooming experience!
