How to Replace the Fuel Filter on a John Deere 2020
- 1). Park the vehicle on a level surface. Empty the attachment and raise it by pressing the switch that activates the hydraulic lift cylinder.
- 2). Locate the safety support which is stored under the attachment to the right side of the lift cylinder. Remove the safety support by pulling it straight out from its storage position. Press the safety support into position around the raised hydraulic lift cylinder to prevent the cylinder from compressing (which could cause the attachment to lower and harm you).
- 3). Locate the fuel filter, the small plastic cylinder to the right side of the engine (when you are facing toward the front of the Gator). Place a pan or rag under the fuel filter to catch any spilled gasoline.
- 4). Loosen the two hose clamps beside the fuel filter with a screwdriver, and slide them away from the filter. Note which way the small arrow points on the fuel filter. Pull the hoses off the fuel filter and remove it.
- 5). Press the two hoses onto the new fuel filter, making sure the arrow on the filter points in the right direction. Slide the two hose clamps into position and tighten with a screwdriver. Remove any rags or pans that you used to catch spills.
- 6). Remove the safety support from the hydraulic lift cylinder, and press it back into its storage position (to the right side of the lift cylinder). Lower the attachment.
