How to Learn About Babies
- 1). Buy and read parenting books like "What to Expect the First Year" by Heidi Murkoff and "The Baby Book: Everything You Need to Know About Your Baby from Birth to Age Two," by William, Martha, James, and Robert Sears. Get magazines such as Parenting Magazine and American Baby Magazine to get more information on babies and their development.
- 2). Talk with a friend or family member who has a baby and get information from them on what they have learned from their babies and what it takes to raise a baby.
- 3). Volunteer to help take care of your friend or family member's baby so that you get experience taking care of a baby. While helping to take care of the baby, watch how the child acts and how the parents interact with their child and meet their baby's needs.
- 4). Take a childcare class that teaches you about babies and how to understand their needs. Most obstetrician offices will provide you with information on how to enroll in baby preparation classes.
