How to Burn a Reboot Disk for Windows XP
- 1). Download a boot image for your CD from the link in the "Resources" section of this article and save the image to your desktop
- 2). Open your CD-burning program and select the option to create a boot CD. This is an option on most commercial CD-burning packages, such as Nero and Roxio. To locate whether your CD-burning program has this ability, search for the term "burn boot CD" within the help file of the program.
- 3). Drag the downloaded bootable image to the CD contents.
- 4). Choose the option to "Burn CD".
- 5). Select the lowest burning speed to minimize the chance of errors during the burning process and press "OK" to confirm.
- 6). Test the CD by placing it in your computer, restarting your machine and pressing any key to boot from the CD. You will be taken to a DOS prompt if the disk burned correctly.
