Insomnia is nothing but a sleep disorder.
Persons affected by insomnia find it difficult to fall asleep.
There are generally three types of insomnia, transient insomnia which lasts for a few days, the second is acute insomnia which is extends for a month and the third is chronic insomnia which is a long drawn period of sleeplessness.
Reasons for insomnia are numerous starting from medication to psychological.
According to US Department of Health and Human Services there are more than eighty million people who are suffering from insomnia.
The reason for this epidemic is being attributed largely to the change in the life style and of course obesity.
From the aged to the newborn are affected by some form of insomnia.
Insomnia can be dangerous.
Deprived of sleep people do not have full control over their motor ability.
This is the reason why some of the critical road accidents involve people that are suffering from some kind of insomnia.
This is due to the reason that most of the drivers who have to drive all night do no know that they are suffering from some kind of insomnia and that is why sometimes they get involved in heavy accidents.
Accidents at home can also happen involving family members that are afflicted by insomnia.
Sleep disorder can lead to myriad of illness.
There are people who generally complain about joint pain, stomach disorder or headaches, may be suffering from the side effect of insomnia, which they are not aware of.

This is done to calm the nerves of the patients and to make them feel comfortable.
Insomnia is a sleep disorder that cannot be cured with sleep only.
There might be some medical condition attached to it therefore the condition can be cured with proper treatment.
However having adequate sleep is vital for people in order to have a healthy living and proper medication to cure insomnia.
