How to Check Gas Stove Ignitors
- 1). Disconnect the stove from the gas source. Remove the burner grates from the cooktop. Remove the burner caps and the bases, too.
- 2). Remove any screws from the main top of the unit. Use a prying tool to separate the main top from the rest of the unit to expose the burner assemblies.
- 3). Place the ohm reader probe on each ignitor separately to read the amperage.
- 1). Disconnect the gas from the unit for safety purposes. Open the oven door and remove the racks. Use a prying tool to open the hinge locks on either side of the oven door. Lift the oven door up and out of its hinges.
- 2). Remove the screws from the bottom plate in the oven and lift out the bottom plate. Remove the screws in the burner grate and remove it from the oven, too.
- 3). Touch the ohm reader probe to the ignitor to read the amperage.
