How to Draw a Superhero Body Step-by-Step
- 1). Draw an oval-shaped head near the top of your paper. Add a horizontal line across the center of the oval as well as a vertical line down the middle. Draw a second horizontal line between the first horizontal line and the bottom of the oval. These lines form the basis for the character's facial features.
- 2). Draw a line that is three heads long starting from the bottom of the oval toward the bottom of the paper. Draw a horizontal line slightly less than a half head below the bottom of the oval. Make this line two heads wide, turned lengthwise. Add two small circles to the end points of this line. Connect the end points to the point below it to form an upside-down triangle. This will be the basis for your character's torso.
- 3). Start at the bottom point of the triangle and draw an oval that is half a head high and slightly narrower than the horizontal shoulder line beneath the character's chin. Draw a second oval half a head above it, with the top of the oval coming up slightly above the horizontal shoulder line. Make the oval slightly thinner than the span of the character's shoulders. These ovals form the basis for your character's pelvis and chest, respectively.
- 4). Draw a vertical line beginning from the side of the pelvis oval. Make this line two heads long. Add a small circle at the end of the line to mark the knee joint. Draw another vertical line two heads long starting from the knee joint. Draw a thin, elongated horizontal oval at the bottom of this line to form the basis for the foot. Draw the foot at a slight angle to simulate a realistic stance. Repeat this process for the other leg.
- 5). Start at the left circle at the end of the horizontal shoulder line and draw a vertical line that is two heads long. Add a small circle at the end of this line to mark the elbow joint. Draw another vertical line starting at the elbow joint, but make it one head long. Draw a ball at the end of this line to mark the fist. Make it about double the size of the elbow joint. Repeat this process for the other arm.
- 6). Build up your stick figure's limbs with basic geometric cylinders, using the joint markers as guides. Draw two ovals for the character's eyes along the head's middle horizontal line with one eye's width between them. Place a triangle on the head, starting from the eye line and ending at the horizontal line just below it to place the nose. Draw a third horizontal line below the nose to mark the mouth.
- 7). Flesh out your character. Add facial details such as ears, pupils, eyebrows, nostrils and lips using the lines as guides. Use the body cylinders to map the contours of your hero's figure. Draw curved lines to give dimension to the muscles and joints.
- 8). Erase all remaining construction lines. Pencil in your character's costume.
