How to Install a Troy-Bilt SpeedLock
- 1). Remove the existing bump head by unscrewing the knob, holding it in place counter-clockwise.
- 2). Remove the inner reel, which just pulls out. Remove the spring directly beneath where the inner reel was sitting, using your fingers.
- 3). Place the SpeedLock head onto the out spool's shaft. Make sure it's set into the cradle securely. Align the arrows on the SpeedLock head with the eyelets on the spool housing.
- 4). Place the spring around the shaft and through the SpeedLock head.
- 5). Hold the outer spool and tighten the bump knob into place, pressing down as you turn.
- 6). Align the arrows on the SpeedLock head with the eyelets on the spool housing.
- 7). Insert precut filament line that's 8 inches long. Push the line through until even on both sides.
- 8). Twist the SpeedLock head clockwise until it stops. Release the SpeedLock head so it snaps into place. Verify that it has set properly.
