How to Get a Tax ID Certificate in Pennsylvania
- 1). Obtain form PA-100, the state business registration form. It can be found online at the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue website at pa100.state.pa.us. It may be printed out or submitted online.
- 2). Complete form PA-100. Sections one and two cover enterprise information. Choose the reason for filing and enter the business name, federal EIN, address, and phone number.
- 3). Complete section three by checking the boxes next to the services or taxes necessary for your type of business. This may include sales tax, employer withholding tax, workers' compensation, and/or other services.
- 4). Sign, date, and list contact information in section four. Provide an e-mail address for online communication.
- 5). Fill out sections five and six regarding business structure. Indicate whether the business is a corporation, sole proprietorship, general partnership, nonprofit, or other organization. In section six, enter the number of owners or shareholders involved in the business and their percentage of ownership.
- 6). Fill out sections seven through ten regarding business activities. Provide the primary business activity, employment, payment, and reporting information.
- 7). Complete any other sections necessary for your type of business activity. Submit the online registration form, and a welcome package containing a Pennsylvania tax ID number will be sent to the provided e-mail address.
