How to Change a Tire on a Craftsman Lawn Tractor
- 1). Jack up the side of the tractor that you are working on. Raise it just enough to lift the flat tire off the ground.
- 2). Remove the lug nuts from the inside of the flat wheel. There should be five or six of these; they should require a good amount of force to remove. Set them aside where you can find them later.
- 3). Wedge a tire lever between the tire bead and the rim. Pull backward on the tire lever until the tire bead pops off the rim to the outside. If this is too difficult, you may use a pair of bolt cutters to completely break the bead. Remove the tire from the rim and dispose of it properly.
- 4). Set the rim on the ground and line up the new tire with the rim. Push down with enough force to mount the first tire bead.
- 5). Push the new tube up into the tire and put the stem through the stem hole on the rim. Using the tire lever, wedge the remaining tire bead over the rim. Be careful not to break or tear the new tube during this process.
- 6). Fill the tire with air with a powered or hand pump using the pressure specifications found in your owner's manual.
- 7). Put your wheel back on the lawn tractor and attach it tightly with the lug nuts removed earlier. Remove the jack from beneath the tractor.
