How to Use a Buddy Saddle
- 1). Inspect the buddy saddle before putting it on the horse. Check for wear, rust, tears or loose threads that may diminish the integrity of the saddle.
- 2). Clean the buddy saddle. Remove any dirt or extraneous objects that could harm the horse or child.
- 3). Familiarize the horse with the buddy saddle before placing it on its back. Allow the horse to smell, view and touch it.
- 4). Make sure that the adult-sized host saddle is properly attached. Check that the horse is properly bridled.
- 5). Place the buddy saddle at the back of the adult saddle, directly against the cantle.
- 6). Pull the two front straps on the buddy saddle through end rings of the adult saddle's front cinch. Fasten them to the buckles at their base.
- 7). Center the buddy saddle on the horse's back. Securely tighten the two front strap buckles.
- 8). Pull the two back straps of the buddy saddle through the end rings on the front cinch. Fasten them to the buckles at their base. Pull the straps tight.
