Orchid Growing Tips For Healthy and Vibrant Blooms

2
The natural beauty of the orchid and its rareness makes it an exotic plant and a desired one.
The delicateness of its blooms and the care that you must give it are issues that every orchid cultivator deals with.
In case you are planning to get an orchid or recently have one, here are a few orchid growing tips that you can use.
Tip #1 Light is of the essence.
Many orchid growing tips say that the amount of light that the orchid needs can vary greatly depending on what kind of plant it is.
A good way to figure out the exact amount of light that your personal orchid needs is by looking at the size and shape of the leaves of the plant.
If the leaves are long and slim, the plant will need lots of light.
If the leaves are soft and wide, you can place them in less light and placed in a shaded area.
With any orchid if the leaves are looking a bit gloomy, you must increase the light.
Tip #2 Water is as essential to plants as it is to the human body.
Orchid growing tips are unanimous that the orchid plant is no exception and the catch here is that the orchid plants roots need air as much as they need water and if over watered they tend to rot.
If your pot is smaller than four inches, you will need to water the orchid more often, especially if the pot is made of clay that drains water out of the orchid mix faster.
Then if the humidity levels dip below 40 percent you need to water the plant well.
In colder weather, the watering will not be quite as often as in the summers.
If the climate is windy and there is a lot of evaporation from the leaves, orchid growing tips suggest that you water the orchids to replenish the plants reserves.
Tip #3 There are three main classes of orchids when it comes to temperature.
Usually orchid growing tips maintain that ideal temperature for the orchids at home is between 60 to 70 degrees F.
Do not worry if you expose them to slightly higher or lower temperature ranges than that for a short while.
Just make sure not to leave them out in adverse temperature conditions for too long as it can affect their health.
Tip #4 Humidity is the next factor to consider.
Tropical orchids need a warm and humid air in which they grow well.
Practical orchid growing tips suggest that in dry area, you must watch out for the humidity that you provide the orchid.
The tropical orchids need water as often as two to three times a day so that you need to make sure that you do not clog the drainage to avoid root rot.
If you have a sturdier hybrid variety, orchid growing tips say that you need not water it more than once a week.
If you feel that the plant has water in the soil and still looks wilted, you may try misting the plant.
