How to Paint Your Bedroom
- 1). Start by leaving a lot of extra spackling on the wall, fixing any problems in the room. Apply spackling with a spackling knife. Make sure to fill in all holes completely.
- 2). Scrape the wet spackle so the repair is even with the wall. Allow the spackle to dry completely for several hours, and then sand any excess or imperfections.
- 3). Fill in any gaps along the door frames and window casings with paintable caulk. Make sure to let the caulk dry thoroughly.
- 4). Put the painter's tape down on the floor along the edges of the moldings to protect the floor from paint. Do this around all the moldings in the room as well as the door frames and the window casings if necessary.
- 5). Pour some of the paint into a small disposable bowl to carry around with you.
- 6). Use the paintbrush to paint around the edges of the door frames and window casings. Remember to put just a small amount of paint on your brush at a time since too much paint gets runny and drips.
- 7). Keep a wet rag handy in case of drips. Wipe up any spills or drips immediately.
- 8). Fill the paint pan with paint. Dip the roller in the paint and roll up the edge of the pan to cover the roller completely.
- 9). Roll the paint onto the large areas of the wall. Make sure to evenly distribute the paint.
- 10
Let the paint dry for at least several hours depending on the type of paint you use and the weather. - 11
Give the room a second coat of paint if necessary. - 12
