How Do I Make Tack Bread?
- 1). Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- 2). Mix together 1-1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1-1/2 cups of whole-wheat flour, 2 tsp. of salt and 1-1/4 cups of water in a bowl and form the dough into a ball. Add a little more water if the ball is too dry or a little more flour if the ball is too sticky.
- 3). Place the sheet of parchment paper on your baking sheet. Press the dough down to cover the surface of the parchment paper, so that it is about 1/2-inch thick.
- 4). Bake the dough at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about one hour, until dark golden brown and very dry. Remove from the oven, then prick the bread all over with a fork to create holes. Cut the bread into uniform squares and allow them to cool completely before storing.
